On June 12, 2006 the Tate Family home on Davis Islands in Tampa, FL was destroyed in a tragic accident. Seven months later, WCI, our employees, sponsors, trade partners, the Tampa community and hundreds of volunteers will join together to welcome them back where they belong.
"Good morning, Tate Family!" And so the experience begins ... Enjoy shots from this morning's excitement as Extreme Makeover Home Edition surprised the Tate Family and introduced them to WCI.
SWS led the home demolition charge on Monday. In a matter of hours, the SWS team cleared the site, remediated the soil and delivered to WCI a clean pad ready to go.
As demo work progressed, the WCI team took action and began staging out the job.
More than 300 WCI employees and trade partners, led by Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla, marched to the job site, met Ty and the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition design team and kicked-off construction.
Our second full day of construction may prove to be the most intense. Multiple trades descended upon the home in perfect unison bringing to life the elevation and character of the home while simultaneously defining the interior spaces.
WCI and our trade partners go wall-to-wall on the third day of construction. Both interior and exterior construction continues and details begin to take shape.
WCI Extreme Home Makeover goes for the extreme finish. The final stretch culminates in turning the key over to Ty Pennington for the designers to put the finishing touches on an extreme home.
WCI Extreme Home Makeover gives The Tates a welcome home to remember. Local residents, trade partners and Tampa Krewes turned out in force to watch The Tates enter their new home.
The Tate family, along with their friends and neighbors, Extreme Home sponsors and WCI volunteers celebrated the close of our Extreme week with a pirate-themed evening at the Florida Aquarium.
