At WCI Communities, we are all about offering a great lifestyle to those at each of our WCI communities. With thousands of Residents and Members, it's no wonder we need help organizing outstanding events and numerous activities. And with 135 holes of championship golf managed by WCI, we keep our Golf Professionals pretty busy.
Today we're spotlighting Venice-based Chris Souchak, Venetian Golf Club's Head Golf Professional. He's offering up some sage advice to take with you next time you head out on the course.
At what age did you first start playing golf? 5 years old
What is the best golf advice you've ever been given? Create a balanced follow through. You should be able to take your swing and finish your follow-through and hold that position for 2 seconds. If you feel like you are falling over or need to move your feet to steady yourself, you are off-balance and need to address it.
What is the one "clutch" shot everyone should have in their arsenal? A tee shot with a slight fade. This is the best shot to have that will help keep the ball in play.
What have you found most players struggle with on the course? Not worrying about their last shot but staying in the moment and hitting the shot at hand to the best of their ability.
What is your top golf tip for new players? There is no substitute for a proper grip.
What are some of the training tools you use in your lessons? A weighted club with a reminder grip and alignment sticks.
Are you partial to any club brand? Titleist
What is the single most important tool for any golfer to have? The ability to relax and have fun, it’s only a game.
