Venetian Golf & River Club golf event benefits Joplin tornado victims

WCI Communities’ Venetian Golf & River Club residents raised $1,555 to aid victims of the recent tornado disaster in Joplin, Mo.

As part of a relief effort to assist the American Red Cross, Venetian residents Joan Fanelli and Jill Anne Faccenda organized “Storm of Support,” a golf tournament that drew more than 60 players.

“It was great to see so many participate and know that the funds raised will help families in Joplin,” said Chris Souchak, Venetian golf professional. “Our golf staff felt really positive about working with the event to help Joplin in some way.”

“It will take some time for the residents of Joplin to completely recover from such a devastating storm, but we are eager to do our part and help in whatever way we can to move things along,” said Rob Brown, Venetian Club manager. “We give all the credit to Joan and Jill Anne, and all our residents and members who turned out to support the effort.”

Venetian Golf & River Club, the 1,039-acre master-planned community located along the Myakka River in Venice, offers new homes under construction with prices starting in the $220s.
